Bushido Martial Arts is a proud member of the Okinawan Shorin-ryu Shorinkan Association under grand master Hanshi Jūdan Minoru Nakazato (tenth degree), located in Okinawa, Japan. For over 25 years, we have offered quality training in the traditional Okinawan Shorin-ryu Shorinkan style of Karate (empty hand) and Kobudo (weapons), along with Self-Defense training. We promote inclusiveness, self-discipline, confidence, and physical and mental wellness through positive and motivational teaching methods.
A proud mother of three, Sensei Sharon spent her childhood in Quebec with her loving parents and two older siblings. She moved to Toronto, Ontario in 1982 where she began her martial arts journey in Tae Kwon Do. Shortly after moving to Centre Wellington in 1987, Sensei Sharon continued martial arts in the Shorin-ryu Shorinkan Karate style under Ken Verbakel of Bonsai Martial Arts. After years of hard work and dedication she travelled to Virginia, USA in 1996 and completed an intensive grading in front of a board of Sensei's to become the first black belt of Bonsai Martial Arts. Through the years, Sensei Sharon has been dedicated to the art and expanded her journey by traveling across Canada, The United States, and Japan for training and competitions. She currently holds the rank of Godan (fifth degree) and is a direct student of Kyoshi Pat Haley, Vice President of Shorin-ryu Shorinkan Association.
